At the University Children’s Centre, we believe that “childhood is a journey, not a race” (quote origin unknown). Therefore in 2006, we modified our curriculum and embarked on a continuous learning journey implementing a program following an Emergent Curriculum and Reflective Practice approach.
The University Children’s Centre supports a work environment where mutual respect and shared responsibility help promote our vision and philosophy where staff and management work in partnership.
• Staff establish long-term commitments: 3 staff members have more than 20 years service; 11 staff members have more than 5 years service; unionized environment for more than 20 years.
• Permanent teaching staff is fully credentialed and hold a degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education/Child and Youth Studies.
• Continuous professional development: teaching staff are supported and encouraged to attend conferences, seminars and workshops throughout the year.
